Development of knowledge and skills introduced in Art 2A, emphasizing
media and composition and introducing the use of color. Prerequisite: Art 2A

Art 45 - Creative Portfolio and Self Promotion

Development and refining artist's portfolio and strategies for self-promotion of ideas and
skills to work effectively in the design world. Includes use of effective
techniques of presentation. Selection, updating and highlighting of individual
skills to present an artist's portfolio to the best advantage. [ Offered in the Spring ]
Art 54 - Illustrating Children's Books 3 units
Creation of two different children's books. The relationship between words and
images, page layout, character development, and illustration styles. Illustrate
existing books or students' own stories. [ Offered in the Fall ]
Art 55 - Introduction To Graphic Design Careers
2 units
Lectures in different careers related to the Graphic Design field. Presentation
of art work by design specialists highlighting a variety of careers and
opportunities in the graphic design industry. Speakers may include graphic
designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers,
web designers, publishers and others in the graphic design industry.

Art 56 - Graphic Design I 3 units
Introduction to the field of graphic design and use of typography and up
to six field trips
to explore industry related occupations. Assignments includes creating graphic
