Community Education offers non-credit classes, which means they cannot be used toward getting an academic degree. That also means there are no exams or grades to worry about. Another difference is that the classes are short-term, ranging on an average from a three-hour course to weekly meetings of up to six weeks. Many of the instructors are from the regular Chabot College program, others are community members who are experts in their fields.
You can register in any of three ways: by phone, by fax, or by mail. For more information, go to the registration page.
Yes, Chabot College parking regulations are in effect Monday through Saturday. Daily parking permits can be purchased for $2.00 from dispensers located in the student parking lots.
If we receive written notice of cancellation within five days before the course begins, you will be refunded your money, less a $10 processing fee. Once a class begins, we are unable to refund any portion of your fee. If the college cancels a class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund within three to six weeks.
The reason classes are cancelled is that Community Education courses are not state-funded and must be offered at no cost to the college. Therefore, a minimum number of students must be enrolled for a class to be held.
We do not mail out confirmation letters to every student who enrolls. However, if you send an e-mail to chabotcomed@chabotcollege.edu or send a self-addressed envelope along with your registration form, we will be happy to send you a confirmation. If you register over the phone with a credit card, you will receive an immediate verbal confirmation. Be sure to mark your calendar with date, time, and location of your class.
Since this catalog is published in advance, there may be classes offered that will not appear in print. Our website at www.chabotcollege.edu/comed/ will have the most up-to-date information with new courses highlighted. Also, if you have already registered for a class, please be sure to check the website in case there may be changes in room number, instructor, or other information.
