COUNSELING

The Counselors at Chabot College Welcome You to
Online Counseling Services!

Online Counseling is available for Chabot students that are currently taking online classes, students who live too far away from campus to conveniently access counseling services or students who have a compelling reason for not being able to see a counselor in person.

Please review FAQ’s as  you may find the answer to your question.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS/RETURNING STUDENTS/COMMUNITY MEMBERS:

You may submit an inquiry via email: cc-counseling@chabotcollege.edu

CURRENTLY ENROLLED/REGISTERED STUDENTS (students with W#'s):

If you are a first time new college student who has applied for admission but not necessarily registered for classes, we ask that you complete the online orientation and in person assessment testing prior to making an appointment or using online counseling.  You can complete the online orientation at:  http://www.chabotcollege.edu/counseling/orientation/ and you may access the assessment schedule at:  http://www.chabotcollege.edu/counseling/assessment/schedulelinks.asp

If you are a student who is currently taking classes, please refer to the list below to determine if your question is appropriate for online counseling:

If your question is too detailed or complex to be answered online, you may receive a message recommending that you see a counselor on campus for assistance.

Keep in mind that Online Counseling can save you time when you have a simple question, but it does NOT take the place of seeing a counselor in person.  Many issues are too complex to be answered through email and are more effectively addressed during a counseling appointment.  Please be advised that the counselor retains the right to determine whether your concerns, issues, and or questions can be adequately addressed online; if necessary, the counselor may require an in-person appointment.

We will make every effort to get back to you as soon as possible, but the response time will depend on the volume of questions submitted. Most questions will be responded to within three business days (excluding holidays). During periods of heavy enrollment however, a response may take longer. If you do not receive a response, be sure to check your spam filter and make sure it will allow messages from Chabot College.  Online counseling is only available during fall and spring semesters. Online counseling does not occur during the following times: weekends and holidays, the first and last weeks of the semester, and semester breaks.
