Committee members reported back on the presentations given at the May 6th division meetings.
Lani Wilson provided the committee with an overview of her hopes to develop a web-based, secure counseling system, and the challenges she faces. The committee would like to support this concept, but needs more concrete plans. A small subcommittee will be formed to develop a specific proposal to be reviewed with the DE Committee, Counseling, and other interested groups to try to enlist support for this initiative. This may become more important as we continue in our accreditation cycle and are asked for evidence that we are providing all student services to our online students.
Jan, Lisa, and Minta will be meeting to discuss a training schedule for online instruction and Blackboard instruction. The committee suggested that we emphasize the availability and benefits of mentors in the relevant workshops.
