DE Course Approval Process/Timeline

 Spring 2009 Courses

  1. ASAP:  Review your course idea with your subdivision and dean to gain support for offering the course.  Note that the decisions to schedule an online course and the instructor assignment are matters for the subdivision and dean, not the DE Committee.

  1. ASAP:  Complete your initial Blackboard training/consultation session with our Instructional Designer.   Request an appointment at http://www.chabotcollege.edu/ITC/workshops/appointment.asp?workshopID=185.

  1. September 15, 2008:  Submit electronic version and hard copy of online course delivery proposal (with all required signatures) to the DE Committee Chair (Jan Novak).  Once you’ve submitted your proposal, a review team from the DE Committee will be assigned.  This small team will help you through the rest of the process.

  1. By October 13, 2008:  Feedback on your course proposal from DE Committee members will be available in the Blackboard BOLT course.  Review and reply to this feedback, and incorporate in your course as needed.

  1. By December 8, 2008:  Review your course shell plus 1-2 weeks of content with your DE Committee review team.  We also encourage you to share the course with your colleagues, but this isn’t required.  Feedback will be provided both at your meeting and following the final committee vote.

  1. 2-3 weeks before the semester begins:  Complete your formative evaluation with our Instructional Designer.
