Anxiety Disorders
What are Anxiety Disorders?
Anxiety is a normal reaction to
stress. It helps one deal with a tense situation
in the office or in a
relationship, study harder for an exam, or keep focused on
an important
speech, for example. In general, it helps one cope. But when
anxiety
becomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, it has
become a
disabling disorder.
There are Five (5) major types of anxiety
disorders are:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder (OCD)
Panic Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Social Phobia (or Social Anxiety Disorder)
If you have concerns, we recommend you seek professional assistance from
a
Mental Health professional; you can make an appointment with the Chabot
Mental Health Counselor/Intern. In the meantime, check out the Anxiety
