Student Health Center

Services Provided for Students
The Chabot College Student Health Center is your access to quality health care
on campus. All registered students may use the health center. Most services
are included in your health fee, while other services are available at low costs.
In order to keep your wait time under ten minutes medical services are provided
on an appointment basis, but appointments are generally available the same day.
All urgent problems are handled immediately.
Primary and Urgent Care
- Nurse practitioner assessment, evaluation, treatment, and prescriptions
for minor illnesses and minor injury
- Comprehensive Physical Exams for DMV, schools, employments, etc.
- Emergency response on campus
- Diagnostic Lab test and screenings
- FREE Over the counter medications, band-aids, ice pack,
Condoms
- Preventive health services (education sessions, counseling, etc.)
Women's Health Services
- Well woman exams and pap smears
- Breast exams
- Pregnancy testing
- Contraceptive management (i.e. birth control pills)
- Referrals for family planning, women's specialists, etc.
Immunizations
- FREE flu shots (by season only) and TB testing
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- Tetanus, varicella
- Flu shot
Mental Health Services
- Crisis counseling
- Short-term counseling by a Marriage & Family Therapist
- Referrals for mental health services in the community

Students Rights and Responsibilities
We want you to be an active participant regarding your health care. You have
the right to know and understand:
- Health services policies
- Names of persons providing services
- What medicine is recommended and its side effects and risks
- What tests are being recommended and why
- The prospects for resolution of your problem
- How the problem can be prevented in the future
Your Responsibilities include:
- Being honest about your past medical history and what you expect from each
visit
- Answering questions completely
- Making sure you understand directions
- Following the prescribed plan
- Reporting changes in your health or adverse effects of treatment
- Keeping scheduled appointments
