It's Not Too Late: Request Spring 2013 sites!
If you haven't already done so, you can request Blackboard sites for your Spring 2013 courses. Just as in previous semesters, simply log into CLASS-Web, click on the Menu for Faculty Staff & Advisors, scroll down to the Blackboard Course Site Request link, and get started by selecting the semester and campus. Blackboard sites will be available in your Blackboard account within 24 hours of request (weekends excepted). Fully illustrated steps for requesting sites are listed at: /OnlineTeaching/Blackboard/RequestSite/

A Reminder About Copying Content
Blackboard will be available through out the Winter Break, so you will be able to work on content for your Spring 2013 courses. Copying over content from a previous course site? How to copy content from one Blackboard site to another. Please note: Be sure to also select "Grade Center items and settings" and "Tests, Surveys, and Pools" if you are copying over any quizzes, assignments, SafeAssignments, or Blogs/Journals/Discussion Forums that are set for grading, as they are linked to the Grade Center.
Please note: If you plan to install a publisher cartridge, please request to have this installed prior to copying content over.

When Will Students be Able to Access My Sites?
Students will not be uploaded to the Blackboard system until one week prior to the first day of the semester. Even after students are uploaded to the system, you will still need to make your course site available in order for students to access it. Follow the steps at /OnlineTeaching/Blackboard/faq/#MakeAvailable to make your site available.

Chabot Website Server Upgrade will NOT impact Blackboard

You may have read the recent emails regarding the Chabot website server upgrade taking place between Finals Week through mid-January. We would like to assure Blackboard users that the Blackboard system will not be impacted during this website server upgrade. You will still be able to access Blackboard throughout Finals Week and all through the winter break.

Save a Copy of the Grade Center:

To download a copy of your Grade Center into Excel, go to the Grade Center (Full Grade Center) and in the top, right corner, click on "Work Offline" and select "Download." On the next page, leave the options to their defaults and click Submit. You will be prompted that the data has been saved. You can then click the "Download" button to choose to Open the file (in Excel) or Save the file.

How to Make your Blackboard Site Unavailable:

After grades are submitted and students no longer need access to your Blackboard site, you may choose to make your site unavailable to students. Students appreciate this as it minimizes confusion with current Blackboard sites listed in their accounts.
- Go to the Control Panel area
- Select Customization
- Click Properties
- Under the Availability option: select No
- Click Submit
You will now see (unavailable) next to the course name in your list of courses.

Remember to use the Firefox or Chrome browser:

To help minimize errors, please be sure to access Blackboard using either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome (rather than Internet Explorer). While all three of these browsers will work with Blackboard, we've had a number of issues reported from users of Internet Explorer that are resolved by using Firefox or Chrome.
