Chabot rallies, Mcintosh hits big fly

The Chabot baseball team rallied from a three-run deficit to take a 6-3 win over West Valley on Thursday at Gene Wellman Field in the Coast-Golden Gate Conference.

Chabot, De Anza and Mission are in a three-way tie for first place with 2-0 records.

After the Gladiators (11-6) scored two in the seventh, Jesse Lewis gave Chabot a 4-3 lead with a two-run single in the eighth as Ryan Ruley and Cal Stevenson scored. Then Jake McIntosh crushed a two-run home run to score Lewis.

Lewis and Michael Echavia scored unearned runs in the seventh to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Lewis and McIntosh both had two hits.

Chabot, which has won seven of its last eight games, received excellent relief pitching. Adam Kimmel, Jacob Knight, Levi Noddin, Kevin Burt and Stevenson, who had the save, combined to allow just four hits and no runs over the final 5.2 innings.

Starter Connor Loar allowed five hits and two earned runs over 3.1 innings.

After sweeping a two-game series over West Valley, the Gladiators will host De Anza on Saturday at 1 p.m., before traveling to De Anza on March 22.
