WEEKLY ATHLETICS RECAP

Baseball (Apr 12)

The re-rallying Chabot baseball team scored twice in each of its first two at bats en route to a 5-2 win over host De Anza on Tuesday in the Coast-Golden Gate Conference. 
Jake McIntosh had a two-run single in the first inning, and Kenny Corey had an RBI single and Cal Stevenson scored on a wild pitch in the second.  
Max Sanderson, who was 3 for 4, gave Chabot a 5-1 lead with an RBI single in the fourth. 
Chabot, which has won two in a row after dropping four straight, received excellent pitching overall. Starter Chris Johnson allowed four hits and one run over four innings, and reliever Kevin Nava (5-3) got the win after allowing four hits and a run over the final five innings. He struck out six and walked three. 
The Gladiators (16-11, 7-5) are in a virtual three-way tie for second place with CSM (19-10, 8-5) and De Anza (19-10, 8-5). They will play a makeup game against West Valley on Wednesday at Gene Wellman Field. 
Chabot will also host De Anza on Thursday, before facing last-place CCSF (3-24-1, 1-12) on Saturday at Fairmont Field in Pacifica. 
TENNIS
The No. 5 seeded Gladiators bowed out of the CCCAA Dual Team Tennis Regional with a 5-0 loss to No. 1 American River in Tuesday's semifinals. Chabot upended No. 4 Folsom Lake 8-1 in the quarterfinals.
