VEZALDENOS STARS IN SOLANO BASKETBALL TOURNEY

Chabot’s Olivia Vezaldenos was picked to the All-Tournament team after leading the Gladiators to two wins in the Solano tournament.

Vezaldenos, a former East Union High star point guard, amassed 69 points over three games, including scoring 28 in Sunday’s 85-74 win over Lassen.

Vezaldenos had an outstanding high school career, earning Valley Oak League MVP honors after leading the Lancers to the VOL championship. She averaged  20.4 points 20.4 points and 5.5 assists as a senior.

In an attractive matchup, Chabot (7-2) will face Fresno City (8-3) on Thursday in the West Hills Tournament.

 

CRESS WINS STATE WRESTLING TITLE; DHALIWAL, CARRASCO BOTH TAKE FOURTH

Chabot’s Anthony Cress pinned Sacramento City’s Abel Garcia in 2:52 to win the 174-pound title in the CCCAA State Championships Saturday in Stockton. 

Cress, an Antioch High School graduate, also won the NorCal title. Chabot’s Chumkaur Dhaliwal and Lazaro Carrasco both placed fourth in the state.

Buoyed by Cress, Dhaliwal and Carrasco, who earned All-American honors, Chabot finished ninth in the team standings.
