Chabot sports preview, Feb 27


GOLF:  Led by tournament medalist John Fracisco’s excellent 64, the Chabot men’s golf team Chabot finished second in the Stanford Invitational on a par 69 course.

The Gladiators had a 383 score, 13 strokes behind team champion Monterey Peninsula.

Other Chabot Scores: 74-Heetae Yang; 81-Scott Morris; 82-Zack McClure; Carter Walling; 83-Chris Roming.


TRACK & FIELD:  The Chabot track and field team is poised for a very strong season under head coach Kyle Robinson.
“Definitely one of the best groups we have had in a long time,” Robinson says.
Newcomer Patrick Alexander, a Washington High graduate, has burst into the scene with a best of 15 feet, 7 inches in the pole vault.
Another strong freshman, Tim Bernal (Albany HS) has a best of 22-11 in the long jump.
Freshman Zach Connolly (Redwood Christian) has run the Steeplechase in 9:36. 
Sophomore David Frisbie (Kennedy HS), a three-time cross country All-American, looks to continue his stellar career. His bests are 1:52 in the 800, 3:58 in the 1,500 and 14:57 in the 5K.
Freshman Roman Johnson (Mt. Eden HS) is a blazer after finishing 10th in the high school state meet in the 100 (10.60).
The Gladiators are excellent in middle distance again, also with sophomore Jordan Kirby (Newark Memorial) whose bests are 1:54 in the 800 and 4:02 in the 1500.
Conner McKinnon (Amador Valley) is back after finishing third in the 2016 CCCAA state meet in the 800 and earning AllAmerican honors. He has run 1:52.
On the women’s team, sophomore standout Ari Milton (Washington) is a force in the 100 hurdles (14.53), 400 (1:02), and triple jump (39 feet).
Sophomore Maurcedez Potts is a standout in the sprints: 100/200/400 with marks of 12.79/26.23/59.37.
