The world of transportation is changing rapidly with the increasing use of new technologies and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) supported systems. Many of today’s vehicles include systems to support drivers by increasing awareness of the driving environment, and when necessary, providing warnings to the driver and / or initiating corrections independent of the driver. These systems are the foundations for Autonomous vehicles of the future.

To properly service, maintain, calibrate and diagnose these and many other systems on the vehicle, technician need additional education and experience. Chabot’s Automotive Program has developed two new courses and certificate program to address this need:

The Technology-Based Automotive Systems Certificate of Achievement will provide learning opportunities on systems such as Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems (ADAS), Autonomous Vehicles, New Technologies, Computer Programming, Software Fundamentals, and Connected Vehicles. By incorporating existing relevant courses and the new courses for ADAS and New vehicle Technologies.

ATEC 92 - Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems (3.00 units)

This course introduces students to the Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems (ADAS) utilized in vehicles. This technology is also the foundation for autonomous vehicles. This course will cover the various Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems (ADAS), exploring system operation, diagnosis, service, repairs, and calibration.

ATEC 93 – New vehicle Technologies (3.00 units)

This course will introduce students to new vehicle technologies, including enhanced vehicle connectivity, vehicle electronics and programming. The course will cover the operation, application, and practical experiences with these systems, and vehicle diagnostics including electrical and mechanical.
