Getting Started with Blackboard:
Blackboard is a password-protected, web-based course management system - a
"one-stop-location" for nearly all the tools you and your students need to
create an online learning environment. In other words, it's a
virtual classroom used to post course information and/or deliver instruction.
At Chabot, we use Blackboard for fully online courses, hybrid
courses, as well as a an enhancement to on-campus
courses to provide a web-based learning environment for our students. The extent of use
is completely up to the instructor. Some on-campus instructors use Blackboard
simply to post their syllabus and hold discussions, while instructors teaching
fully online courses typically use Blackboard more extensively. Review of
this website and resources is highly-recommended for those instructors who would
like to use Blackboard for their classes.
Orientation to Blackboard Resource site
If you are new to Blackboard or new to Chabot, please review the Orientation to
Blackboard Resource website (optional). Whether you are new to Blackboard or have
taught with Blackboard at another college, this site will help you familiarize yourself with
the system and Chabot-specific processes & support.
Request Blackboard sites through CLASS-Web. Once your
requested sites are approved by a Blackboard Administrator,
they will appear in your Blackboard account within 24 hours.
You will then be sent information for logging into Blackboard
and getting started. (If you do not receive an email, please
click on the "Need Help?" button to the left).
