Debbie A. Green, M.A.
Program Coordinator and Daraja Advisory Board Member

Debbie Green joined the Daraja Project in 2006 as the Program Coordinator. She has worked at Chabot as an academic counselor in the Disabled Students' Resource Center, CAL Works, and General Counseling since 1993. Prior to coming to Chabot, she was employed as a sign language interpreter working within the Deaf Community. Most recently, she has been working in the Health Center as a licensed Marriage Family therapist doing clinical counseling for Chabot students. Ms. Green Brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position. Her goal is to help Daraja thrive at Chabot and foster its growth at other educational institutions.

As the director of the Daraja Program from 2001-2005, Mrs. Wilson has been committed to students development of self-worth, pride in their cultural heritage and competence in the class room. She has a B.A. in Marketing form the American College for Applied Arts and a M.S., from Cal State Hayward and will complete her doctorate at Mills College this fall. Mrs. Wilson switched positions from a part-time coordinator to a full time EOPS counselor/instructor. Although she is no longer the Daraja Program coordinator she has continued on as the President of the Daraja Advisory Board.

Since 2004, we have had a functioning Advisory Board consisting of Daraja Project staff, administration, instructors, mentors, and alumni, and community leaders. Our Daraja Advisory Board consists of enthusiastic mentors and community leaders who generate innovative ideas for the continued growth and financial viability of the program.

The Advisory Board meets a few times per semester and sub-committees schedule additional meetings at their convenience to concentrate on specific projects. The next Board meeting will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2006 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Chabot College.
