Daraja Program

Tom DeWit received a B.A in English from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986 and M.A. in English from the University of Virginia in 1988. Mr. DeWit has been an English instructor for the Daraja Program since1990. He teaches all levels of English curriculum and is very active in campus wide activities such as enrollment mgt, program reviews, a basic skill initiative, and contract negotiations.
It brings us great pleasure to announce that Daraja ’s new Administrative
Assistant is one of our own. Ms. Smith completed Daraja in 2003 and worked as an
assistant for one year under Dr. Jeanne Wilson. She also was a student
representative on the Daraja Advisory Board and now serves at Board Sectary. She
will be transferring to CSU East Bay in 2008 with a major in Adminstration of
Justice. She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for Daraja and it’s
continued success
Barbara Worthington is our
new English instructor for the Daraja Program. She earned an AA Degree from
Merritt College in Social Behavior Science and continued her education at CSU
East Bay, where she worked for ten years as an English instructor, test reader,
and English Coordinator for the summer bridge program. Mrs. Worthington joined
Chabot’s Language Arts Department as a Full-time English instructor in august
2005. As a former Daraja Mentor, she is excited to be apart of the Daraja
community and hopes to make a positive contribution to the lives of each
student.
