Jose R. M. Alegre
Math/Physics Professor
Chabot College
Welcome to my webpage! I have been teaching at Chabot since the Fall 1990. Teaching is my passion, but it didn't start right away. I became a math teacher by coincidence... The story starts when I first came to California in 1975 from Mexico (legally I promise). I was a college drop out because I couldn't do the math. Once in California, I became a garbage collector. In one occasion, when I was picking a garbage can to empty the garbage, I found many math books. That was the omen to go back to school and study that beatiful subject. I started my college years attending Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA in 1978. Then, three years later, I transfered to California State Fullerton where I earned my bachelor in Applied Mathematics with emphasis in Physics in 1985. A year later, I returned to work in my masters in Applied Mathematics which I earned in1988. From 1988 to 1990, I tought in various schools such as Fullerton College, Cypress College and Servite High School. Eventually, I ended up teaching at Chabot College.
