COURSES Spring 08
LINKS

Cristina Ruggiero
Political Science

For Summer 2008 students:

IMPORTANT: The Summer session is a 6 week session. However it will cover the same material as a 17wk semester course. Do not register for this course if you do not have at least 15 hours a week to commit to this summer course.

We will be covering 2-3 sections of material each week, which will require written homework every two days and exams every two weeks. In addition there will be two short papers due and a final for this course.

Please click on the link to the right to see the syllabus for Spring 2008 on-line course to see what is required for this class.

Info for Students Already Enrolled in Political Science 1 On-line:

The course will not be available to you till June 16 the first day of classes. Class starts that day! You will be expected from the first day of class to know how to use Blackboard and to have daily internet access. Please make sure you are familiar with on-line technology and can log into Blackboard, prior to the start date of the course. Students must have an email account and regular computer and internet access to take this course.  http://www.chabotcollege.edu/DistanceEd/login/

Students who do not log into to the course and do not complete the first assignment by the posted due date (instructions will be in Blackboard) may be dropped since there are students waiting to add the course.

  • The textbook and reader are available in the Bookstore. You will need both books for the course. Both books are also in the Chabot College Library for in library use.
  • Textbook: Living Democracy Custom Edition. Authors: Shea, Green, Smith and Clarke. 1st edition This is a custom version only including the chapters we cover in this class and is only sold in the Bookstore. It is far less expensive (and lighter) than a new copy of the standard edition. If you choose to try to find a standard edition on-line, you will need a comprehensive California or brief California edition of the book. Reader: The Enduring Debate: Classic and Contemporary Readings in American Politics, 4th Edition. Edited by David T. Canon, et al. This must be the 4th edition.

There may be additional articles, videos, web links and other information that will be posted on the Blackboard website (or you will be directed to view/read on the internet) for the course.
