How are online classes different than traditional courses?
All
assignments – exams, web homework, and research projects – are completed and
submitted online.
Yes. Both Sociology 1 and Sociology 2 online are equivalent to the same on-campus courses.
No. You can take this course in any location. You will need Internet access and an email account.
Anyone who needs the convenience of online learning, works well independently and is comfortable browsing the Internet and using email. Students who are self-motivated do very well.
Registration for online classes is the same as regular Chabot classes. Chabot CLASS-Web lists current schedules, our academic calendar and a link to our Blackboard login.
We will use Chabot's course management platform called Blackboard. Help for student's enrolled in Blackboard provides an online tutorial.
It’s best if you have some experience surfing the web, sending emails with attachments and generally enjoy being online. You’ll need reliable online access, a standard browser – Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, versions 4 or higher – and an email account.
Not required, but preferred software for document uploads: any version of Microsoft Word.
Special note to AOL users: Use Internet Explorer to access the course, not the AOL browser.
