Overview:
This course introduces you to Adobe Photoshop, the software most often used by professionals for working with digital images. You’ll learn how to create original images through the use of Photoshop’s painting and drawing tools, and how to transform and improve existing images through the use of Photoshop’s powerful editing tools. You’ll also learn to use features such as layers, masks, and filters to produce more advanced effects. Along the way, you’ll acquire some basic computer and design skills, and you’ll become acquainted with some fundamental concepts of digital imaging, design, and color theory.

Overview:
This course is intended for students who are already familiar with the basics of Adobe Photoshop and want to move to the next level. It covers some of Photoshop’s more advanced features, such as vector tools, complex layer combinations, and 3D effects. It also introduces the techniques you’ll need to prepare images for printing and for use in a website. Emphasis throughout the course will be on doing careful, well-designed, attractive, professional-quality work.

Overview:
This course introduces you to Adobe Illustrator, a digital drawing application used to create illustrations, technical drawings, and page layouts. On the technical side, you’ll learn how to create vector paths and bring them to life through the application of strokes and fills. On the creative side, you’ll how to use gradients, blends, and effects to make your drawings more imaginative, attractive, and artistic.

Overview:
This course shows you how to create and edit individual web pages (including text, images, hyperlinks, tables, rollover buttons, and other features), and how to manage multi-page websites. You’ll learn to do these things in two ways: by writing the basic HTML and CSS code that lies at the heart of every web page, and by using Adobe Dreamweaver software to write the code for you. We’ll look at both the technical aspects of creating a web page, and the design principles that make web pages and websites attractive, friendly, and usable.

Overview:
This course is intended for students who are already familiar with the basics of web page design and coding using Dreamweaver software. In Dreamweaver II, we’ll build on that foundation by bringing in other types of media — such as images, sound, video, and interactive elements — and incorporating them seamlessly into a media-rich website. We’ll also look at ways to bring a website’s design, navigation system, and management up to a professional level.

Overview:
This course introduces you to the process of editing digital video and audio using Apple’s Final Cut Pro software. You’ll learn how to capture digital video, combine video clips by means of cuts and transitions, add titles and sound to your video sequences, and output the finished product to disk.

Overview:
This course continues the content and skills introduced in DIGM 36A (Final Cut I). You’ll learn how to create a variety of special effects by using video and audio filters, and by altering the speed and dimensions of movie clips. You’ll also learn to composite (seamlessly combine) multilayered video images.

Overview:
Flash is a program from Adobe that allows you to create media-rich websites and interactive user interfaces. To take full advantage of Flash’s interactive capabilities, you need to use a programming language called ActionScript. This course is an introduction to ActionScript for people who have no programming experience. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to create user-controlled animation, simple games, and “smart” Web pages that can adapt to a user’s preferences.

Overview:
Adobe Flash is a popular authoring application for bringing motion, sound, and interactivity to the Web. Flash began as an animation program, and it’s still used for creating professional-quality animated cartoons for broadcast and DVD. This course focuses entirely on Flash’s animation capabilities. You’ll learn how to create attractive vector drawings, set them in motion using a variety of techniques, and synchronize them with music and spoken dialogue. You’ll also get experience with the non-Flash aspects of animation development: storyboarding, creating characters, and putting together a soundtrack.
