Professional Information

I came to Chabot College as a full-time faculty member in the fall of 2002.  I have been teaching at Chabot since the spring of 1999.  I graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts.  I moved to Pennsylvania in 1976 and then spent the next 20 years juggling work as a technical writer and editor and family life, which included moving to Washington and then California.  In 1995, I began graduate work and earned a Master of Arts from the Graduate Theological Union.  My thesis focused on medical ethics and Habermas’ discourse theory.  I am currently completing my doctorate at the GTU.  I have also taught for  California State University, Hayward, the University of San Francisco, and the Episcopal School for Deacons.

My professional interests are quite broad, but I have an enduring interest in travel, particularly pilgrimage and spiritual journeys, ritual (broadly taken) and social change.  If you would like more detail, feel free to read my curriculum vitae or send me an email!

Personal Note

I have been married for 25 years.  I have two semi-adult children (in their early 20s).  I enjoy quilting, gardening, bird-watching, and traveling in my free time.
