AstroPortal Access Info


What is AstroPortal?

AstroPortal is a complete online resource required for our introductory Astro 10 course.  It includes a complete digital eBook version of Comins’ Discovering the Universe, 8th edition with highlighting capabilities, note-taking capabilities, and multimedia links.  It also includes a complete resource center containing a suite of concept-based Tutorials, video, animations, quizzing and more!  You’ll be able to access all of our homework assignments within AstroPortal, from the Assignment Center.  And you can track your grades through the course.

 

To access AstroPortal you have two options:

  1. Purchase access to AstroPortal through our bookstore (packaged with the printed text book).
     

2. Purchase access for AstroPortal directly from the Publisher.

 

To register: Go to www.courses.bfwpub.com/dtu8e

 

 

IF YOU PURCHASED AN ACCESS CODE FROM THE BOOKSTORE:

1. Click on “REGISTER an Activation Code” and Click  NEXT>

2. Enter your Activation Code, your name, and e-mail address. Your email address will serve as your username for AstroPortal.

3. Create a password.  Your password must be at least 4 characters long and should be something you will easily remember, since you will need it to access student materials in the future

4. Select CA. Then, select CHABOT COLLEGE and then our course (from the drop down menus).

5. Click  NEXT> and confirm your account information.
 

6. Click  NEXT>  You are now registered and can begin using AstroPortal!

 

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ASTROPORTAL DIRECTLY FROM OUR WEB SITE:

1. Click on “PURCHASE access to AstroPortal”

2. Select CA, then, select CHABOT COLLEGE and then our course (from the drop down menus).  Click  NEXT>

3. Complete the registration form, including your first and last name, and email address.  Create a username and password for yourself that you easily remember for use throughout the term. Click  NEXT>

4. Enter your payment information including name as it appears on the credit card, card number, expiration date, and billing address.  Click  NEXT> and confirm all account information. Click  PLACE YOUR ORDER>

5. Once you have confirmed payment and placed your order, you will see a screen that says “Thank You,” and confirms your name, email address, username, and password.  You will also receive an email confirming your account.
