  introduction

The Political Science department at Chabot College is dedicated to fostering a broad understanding of local, national, and international political systems and social scientific methods, encouraging active civic engagement, and heightening student awareness of the complex and diverse global connections that define today’s world.

The political science department offers a variety of courses in political science, all of which are transferable to CSU and UC, and all meet GE breadth requirements for the associate degree and for transfer.
The American Government course helps satisfy the CSU American Institutions requirement.

Over the next few years, the overarching vision for political science at Chabot is twofold.  First,  to be more globally oriented - in terms of course topics, the curricula as a whole, and in course offerings.  Secondly, to design and implement a variety of opportunities for students to get more directly involved in the political process and to elevate the status of civic engagement.
