General Citation Advice

»Citations tell the reader where they can find all of the information included in a paper that is not considered common knowledge.

»References provide the details needed to access this information directly.

»Assertions must be supported with evidence. Evidence can either be directly quoted, paraphrased, or referenced, but must be
appropriately cited.

»The power of direct quotes, particularly longer ones, increases when they are used strategically rather than repeatedly.

»Integrate evidence/information into your paper rather than just paraphrasing the argument of each author or source sequentially.

»Your voice and interpreation should be prevalent.

»Whatever method of citation you use, it should be consistent throughout your paper.

»Pay attention to details! It is important to note the placement of punctuation such as periods & quotation marks.
