The Financial Aid Office is partnering up with American Student Assistance (ASA) and SALT to provide Chabot students with a new membership program, which includes a free financial literacy program that will provide students with tips and tools on how to manage their money, and best of all, your student loan repayment.

SALTâ„¢ is a free, nonprofit-backed resource that makes it simple for you to take control of your finances and student loans.

What Is SALT?

SALT was created by American Student Assistance, a nonprofit organization, to help Chabot College's students like you become more financially savvy. This program rewards you for making smart money decisions, and we're providing all of its services to you - including your membership - free of charge.

Activating your SALT membership allows you take advantage of members-only features, like:

  • Interactive money management tools that show you how to take control of your finances.
  • A personal dashboard that tracks all of your federal student loans from Chabot College in one place.
  • Loan advice from SALT''s expert counselors.
  • My Money 101 - a self-paced, online resource that teaches you practical money management strategies for budgeting, credit cards, banking and more.
  • Access to thousands of jobs and internships to jumpstart your career.
  • Exclusive benefits that help you save and spend smart.

Chabot student loan borrowers will receive information regarding repayment, postponing payments, delinquency and how to avoid defaulting on your student loans. Those who are successfully making on time payments on their student loans will also get assistance.

Remember to check your email for a message from SALT containing your invitation to join. ASA/SALT is authorized by Chabot Financial Aid Office to work with our students and to help prevent borrowers from defaulting on their student loans. Email communication will be sent out by SALT periodically. Please DO NOT DELETE these emails. These are not spam/junk emails. Add their email address to your address book to allow these emails to filter into your inbox.
