It is both a privilege and a pleasure to serve Chabot College through my role with the Foundation. Since joining the campus in October 2006, I have continued to be amazed by the dedication of our faculty and staff and the wonderful opportunities afforded to our diverse student community.
Almost five years ago, Chabot's former President, Dr. Robert Carlson, had the vision and leadership to work with a group of volunteers to give birth to what is the Chabot College Foundation of today: an energetic and involved Board who are dedicated to bringing resources to the campus while expanding the college's image throughout the service area. Chabot College President, Dr. Celia Barberena, continues to provide strong support and guidance to these enthusiastic community leaders.
A few of the successes we have enjoyed in recent years:
The Chabot College Foundation holds two annual events to raise community awareness of the campus of the campus and develop relationships between civic leaders, volunteers, faculty and staff.
Our Spring Fundraiser, A Blooming Affaire, is a two-day tour of designer tables and explosion of floral arrangements and color. We have had four annual events, with each gaining in popularity and revenue. The 2008 event, chaired by Tamara Papazian, sold out with 276 attendees at Saturday's gourmet luncheon and over 300 attending the cocktail reception on Friday evening. Over $20,000 in net proceeds will benefit Chabot's nursing, interior design and fine arts programs.
Our Fall Fundraiser, Starlight Club, is an elegant themed event that attracts over 250 to enjoy sumptuous appetizers, live music and entertainment and dancing. 2007 featured "Chabot Goes USO" and was chaired by George Famous and Suzanne Pershing, with net proceeds over $20,000. 2008 will explode with color and sound as "Chabot Goes to Monte Carlo" at the Hayward City Hall Rotunda, chaired by Kari McAllister.
Visit our Events Page for more information on these events.
It is our goal to continue to provide the financial support necessary to ensure our students complete their studies and enter the market as qualified employees. But we need your help! As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. If you have questions or would like to make a contribution, feel free to give me a call at the office at (510) 723-6936 or send an email to HBFinberg@ChabotCollege.edu.
