A Table Setting & Design Event

June 6th & 7th, 2008

The Rotunda at Hayward City Hall

The Chabot College Foundation is proud to announce the dates for our fourth Annual “A Blooming Affaire, Tour of Tables and Design”, a fundraiser to support nursing, interior design and fine arts education in the East Bay.  Scheduled for June 6th and 7th, the event organizers are delighted to present a weekend of spectacular colors, fabrics, flowers and table top designs reflecting the theme of the American South.

We are pleased to feature honored guest speakers Gary Wright, John Williams and Susan Soares of Southern Living at HOME and Southern Living Magazine. Southern Living at HOME was founded in 2001 as a response to customers asking where to find the items and designs found in Southern Living Magazine (established in the 1960s). Their mission is to create a feeling of welcome, comfort, and beauty in homes all across America as well as celebrating style and empowering lives. Guests will be treated to a presentation on Southern influenced designs as well as tips on entertaining, decorating and organizing in the home and garden.

We are particularly proud to announce the recipient of the Gladiator Award, Alameda County Supervisor Gail Steele. This tradition recognizes individuals who have a connection with Chabot College and have also had a dynamic impact on the surrounding communities. Ms. Steele has been an exemplary supporter of Chabot College and the Hayward community and we are excited to honor her at this venue.

A Blooming Affaire” is being planned by community members who share a passion for interior design and who believe in the value of community college education.  The key members of our organizing group, led by Chair Tamara Papazian, are well connected and the event promises to be a first class, fun-filled occasion.  No doubt our fundraising efforts are timely given the short supply of healthcare professionals and the continuous need to provide financial support to our students.

This exciting June event will be held at one of the most popular venues in our region, the Rotunda in the City of Hayward’s City Hall.  This glass enclosed facility will create a beautiful sunset for the Friday evening cocktail gathering and a sparkling and sun-filled room for the Saturday luncheon event. Both gatherings will include champagne receptions, a silent auction, a tour of beautifully designed tables, guest speakers, design presentations, wonderful food offerings, table gift giveaways and more.  Our Host Sponsor, The Stuart Rental Company, has again committed its resources to ensure our costs are under control and the event has the necessary backdrop to ensure success.  We plan to entertain over 400 guests at the two-day event.

Come and join us in what is anticipated to be a fund and elegant affair!

Seat Reservations:    $60 for the Two-Day Event;    $30 for Friday Evening Reception

***Saturday-only ticket option not available***

Our event would be a great opportunity to grow relationships and gain the attention of community members interested in design and philanthropy.  There are opportunities for hands-on participation if interested.  We hope that you will join us or consider participating in our event as a Sponsor or Table Design Captain.
