Chabot Went USO at the Starlight Club

The ballroom doors were opened to reveal a USO Club atmosphere in full swing with the Chabot Jazz Band and the Linden Street Dance Studio performing. Horatio's provided a fabulous dinner buffet.

Chabot trustees, faculty, staff and supporters honored retiring President, Dr. Robert Carlson, with a night to remember on November 17, 2007. " Bob Hope'' and USO cigarette girls ushered guests into "The Starlight Club" at the Officers' Club in Alameda, where they were treated to sumptuous appetizers served by our own KCRH staff and students. Chabot Ladies' Water Polo players sold raffle tickets and Dental Hygiene students staffed the coat check. Volunteers also served at the registration area and as bartenders. The Chabot Quartet, a photo area, caricatures and World War II magazine covers and posters provided the opening ambiance. More than 80 items were featured at the Silent Auction, with half being provided from Chabot faculty and staff.

Net proceeds exceeded $20,000 with over $3,000 collected for the newClassified Staff of the Year Award. Contributions will continue to be accepted by the Foundation with the first Award given in the near future.

This event marked the highest participation by Chabot faculty and staff in the history of the current Foundation. The Foundation Board, at their recent meeting, commented on their pleasure at seeing this terrific support and renewed their pledge to continue fundraising and outreach efforts on behalf of the College.

A "Big Thank You" to our SPONSORS who played a major part in the success of Starlight Club 2007!
