Use the following guides to get you started with a particular technology. All of the documents are in PDF format (unless noted) and so require Acrobat
Reader.

Intro to Acrobat 9 (a PDF file) uses the supplied Word 2007 file. The PDF
file explains the following:
- Converting a Word 2007 file to PDF
- Using PDF Maker in the conversion
- Tagging the file for flexibility and accessibility
- The provided Word file explains Fonts and Open Type.

Information Form (doc)
Acrobat 9 PDF Forms (a PDF file) is an introduction to creating a simple
information form with interactive form fields. The provided Word file
contains the simple information form to be converted to PDF.

Information Form (doc)
Acrobat 9 PDF Order Forms (a PDF file) explains how to fill in columns of
form fields in a table, and also how to use calculated fields and set the
tab order. The provided Word file contains the order table to convert to
PDF.

Create a PDF Portfolio (pdf)
Create a PDF Porfolio (a PDF file) explains how to create a PDF Portfolio
that will contain two files. They will be the two files used in the previous
lesson. The user can, at his or her discretion, use any other files instead
of or in addition to these.

Completing a PDF Form (pdf)
The following files are intended to be used in conjunction with the lesson
file (the first file listed below). For assistance, you can
request an appointment with Staff.

- InDesign, Part 2.
In this lesson, the user will create a new document, create a new master
page, have the tools and some palettes explained. The user will be
guided through the creation of two paragraph styles. A graphic, which is
supplied, will be placed according to instructions (with the text
flowing around it), and a picture of the finished page will be shown on
the last page of the guide.
- Word file. This Word file is for placing in the document the user will
create in InDesign following the instructions in the guide.

- InDesign, Part 3
(PDF). This lesson provides a template that people can use to place the
text that is supplied in a Word document, and then explains how to put it
all together and then print it in spreads so that it can be duplex printed
(printed front and back) so that it can be folded into a 12-page booklet.

Introduction to Photoshop CS2, Part 1.
- Guide
The guide contains instructions for scanning images directly into
Photoshop from the two scanners in the HUB (Mac and PC). Then the guide
gives instructions for cropping and compressing the graphic for Web
viewing. The two compression programs, JPEG and GIF are discussed. The
other two files are graphics to use in the lesson.

Introduction to Photoshop CS2, Part 2.
- Guide. This
guide provides an overview of Photoshop's tools. It covers color, file
size and resolution, and the tools palette and options bar. There are three
exercises, one using the marquee selection tool, one using the magic wand
selection tool, and one using the magnetic lasso tool.This will make a good
reference for a new user. It also has two short exercises at the end.
