Blackboard for Faculty

Steps for Getting a Blackboard Account / Site(s)

1. First, check if any of the questions below apply to you:
   • What is Blackboard? and What are ways I can use Blackboard?
   • Should I use Web pages or Blackboard?
   • Which should I do first: Learn Blackboard or teach online?
   • I want to teach a hybrid or fully online class - where do I begin?
      
2. Request account setup/orientation/training. (note that this is a district-wide requirement) Choose one:
   • I have never taught with Blackboard before. Request Introduction to Blackboard training.
   • I have taught with Blackboard at another college. Request Orientation to Blackboard at Chabot College. (But I am already experienced teaching with Blackboard...)
      
3. Request "live" course sites. Typically, sites will be setup 1-3 days after orientation/training is completed (however, expect delays during busy times such as the first week of classes), but you can submit your request now to be entered in the queue for setup, or you can wait until the end of the training session. Once sites are setup, you'll have complete control over when to make the sites available to students.
