Jazz Festival

Welcome to our Tenth annual Chabot College Jazz Festival on March 2, 2013. This all-day festival is designed to have COMPETITIVE and NON-COMPETITIVE events to develop young jazz musicians in an educational environment. Adjudicators include some of the premiere educators in the Greater Bay Area.

Part of our Jazz Festival is to present world class performers to the community as well as to festival participants at an affordable price.  Our past guest artists include Geoffrey Keezer, Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz, Gordon Goodwin, Ernie Watts, Lew Soloff, Matt Catingub, Eric Marienthal, Steve Turre, and Wayne Bergeron.

This years Jazz Guest Artist is Brian Lynch.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Complimentary Festival Pass and Friday Guest Artist Concert Ticket to Participants (Depending on availability)
  • Complimentary Festival Pass and Friday Guest Artist Concert Ticket to all Jazz Directors, Chaperones
  • Saturday noontime clinic with Guest Artist

  • Competitive or non-competitive events for the following Divisions:
    • Middle School Division
    • High School Division
    • 2-Year College Division
    • 4-Year College Division

Our new user-friendly website has several interactive features to make our festival more enjoyable.

  • Create An Account with password protection for Jazz directors
  • Returning Jazz directors just needs to Log In (If you switched schools, you need to create a new account)
  • Online application to the festival (1st-timers need to create an account)
  • Jazz directors have the ability to listen and download adjudicator comments and Audio performance
  • Jazz directors can instantly access their school scores
  • Online submission of Set lists and Soloists
  • Integrated wristband and ticket requests

Entries/Entry Fees

Each school can bring a maximum of 6 entries; 3 Big Bands and 3 Combos.

Early Bird application received on or before September 1, 2012.  Fees must be received by October 1, 2012

  • $200 - for Big Band
  • $125 - for Combo

Regular application received after September 1, 2012.

  • $250 - for Big Band
  • $175 - for Combo

Late application received after February 1, 2013.

  • $325 - for Big Band
  • $225 - for Combo
