In this schedule an “hour” means a 50-minute “lecture hour.”

The purpose of integrating the algebra in with the arithmetic review is to better prepare the students for Elementary Algebra. This text goes a little deeper into algebra than is absolutely necessary for this course, so use your judgment as to how much of the algebra to include. Your overall goal is for the students to be competent in working with signed numbers, fractions, decimals, and percents and to have a solid introduction to simplifying expressions and solving equations.

Possible exam schedule:

Exam 1:  Chapters 1 and 2

Exam 2:  Chapters 3 and 4

Exam 3:  Chapters 5 and 6

Exam 4:  Chapters 7 and 8

Final Exam: Cumulative
