Chabot College offers a program to assist Licensed Vocational Nurses to achieve eligibility to sit the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX - RN). Licensed Vocational Nurses holding a current license to practice in California, worked for one year or 500 hours as an LVN, completed your prerequisites and attended the mandatory orientations listed below are eligible to apply to the program. It is encouraged for you to earn an Associate in Arts degree while completing the nursing program courses, although it is not a requirement for eligibility to take the NCLEX - RN. If you are planning to begin Nursing 70 in Fall 2016 all incoming LVN-RN students must attend the LVN-RN mandatory orientation. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 10:00 AM Room 2258, Building 2200 2nd floor. A second meeting will be held in May, 2016, time and date TBA. NO reservations are required. Please bring a copy of your current LVN License and BLS CPR card. Also a letter from your employers stating you have worked as an LVN for 500 hours or one year.
Costs to students who are California residents include fees, books, uniforms, examination fees, and background check/drug screen clearance. The total cost will be approximately $3,000 plus transportation costs to the hospitals and other agencies. There is minimal local and federal scholarship help available for qualified students; interested students should consult the Financial Aid Office, Building 700.
