Staying Motivated in Your Online Class
Defining and Achieving Your Goals Just as with traditional classes, you need to be self-motivated to succeed in your online class. Maintaining your motivation in an online class requires that you first define your goals. Your goals might include: Define those goals at the beginning of the class. Write them down, and keep
them with your syllabus and assignments calendar. This will help you stay
focused on your class.
Other Suggestions for Staying Motivated If you've found a "study buddy" in the class, try emailing each other at least once a week to remind each other what's due, and to talk about how you're doing in the class. These continual reminders will help you stay focused on your goal. Finally, keep in touch with your instructor. Ask how you're doing. Ask for suggestions if you're struggling with the course or just with your motivation. Your instructor wants you to succeed and may be able to provide the needed encouragement to help you achieve your goals. Establish your goals, write them down, track your progress, and communicate regularly. You can do it!
