Anatomy and Physiology

Section (0T1) is a Distance Education course which uses a combination of on-campus lecture, on-campus lab, and CD-ROM (no videos). Students must have PC accessibility with Windows 95, 98 or NT and a CD-ROM drive. Students must have an email account they can access so instructor can stay in touch regarding any changes, chat room dates, etc. Labs are done on the computer at home and during actual lab visits on campus. The on-campus orientation is on Friday, 1/18 12:30-3:30pm in room 2108. The on-campus labs are held from 12:30-5:35pm in room 2102 on 1/25, 2/22, 3/21, 4/25 and 5/16. Bus 3 ON1 is an online course with no required on-campus meetings.  The concentration of the course is on rules, regulations, and procedures in the preparation of federal income taxes for individuals.  In order to use forms available on the IRS web site, students will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, a readily available free software.  If the class is full and you would like to add, send an email to the instructor at nhunting@chabotcollege.edu. However, without strong interviewing skills, even those with the best resume and cover letter could end up missing the opportunity of a life time. ?Interviewing for Success? is a course intended to provide you with first hand job interview preparation skills. This course will take you through the steps of preparing for and practicing for the interview. You will learn how to research an employer or company and gather useful information prior to applying for a job. You will learn which questions to ask and which ones to avoid during the interview. You will also learn how to follow up on an employment interview.

This course will be delivered in an online environment; there will be no meetings on campus. Course duration is only eight weeks, therefore it will be fast-paced. In addition to the requirements for instruction in Blackboard, students will need to have access to Microsoft Word (2003 or 2007) in which to create documents and a USB drive to save them. They will also need to have access to Microsoft PowerPoint; if not, then they must install the PowerPoint viewer. A link to this software is provided. The required textbook is Business English, Edition 9; Mary Ellen Guffey; Thomson/South-Western, 2008. The book is available as an Ebook. If you are new to the online environment or using Blackboard software for the first time, a one hour orientation is strongly recommended. This class will be using MyItLab software which will also be introduced during the orientation. MTH 55 ON1 and ON2 are hybrid classes conducted both on campus (50%) and over the internet (50%). The online content is delivered using a system called "MyMathLab". Students are required to purchase "MyMathLab" student access, either bundled with the textbook or separately.  The Chabot Bookstore sells the bundled version. If you already have a textbook you can purchase the online access separately at the website. Once you've purchased the "MyMathLab" access you can do work online at selected Chabot computer labs or you can work at home.
The software requires a computer running Windows XP or Windows Vista. General information about "MyMathLab" is available at the website www.mymathlab.com. You may also e-mail the instructor at mrube@chabotcollege.edu with "online math 55" as subject line.
The first week in-class sessions will provide orientation to the software. Since the orientation is mandatory, adds after the first week will only be possible in extraordinary circumstances.
