CHABOT TAKES HALL-WAY TO TITLE
De’Zire Hall was Double-Double trouble for opponents in powering the Chabot women’s basketball team to the championship of the Solano Tournament.
Impressively, Hall averaged 22.3 points and 17.3 rebounds over the three games and was named tournament MVP. Tylore Bell and Naomi Mahe were All Tournament selections.
Bell, an American High graduate, amassed 15 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a 58-50 win over Solano in Sunday’s championship game. Hall (Castlemont) had 17 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks and three steals.
Hall also had 26 points and 19 boards in an 81-65 win over Feather River in Saturday’s semifinals. Mahe (Hayward High) had 14 points from off the bench, and Aiyanna Gallegos had 13 points.
In a tournament-opening 81-49 win over Los Medanos, Hall had 24 points, 15 rebounds and seven steals.
Next, the Gladiators (7-4) will face Santa Barbara Friday to open the West Hills-Lemoore tournament.

WRESTLING
Ben Sira, Zack Wally and Devon Lyle led the Chabot wrestling team to a ninth-place finish at the CCCAA State Championships at Victor Valley College in Victorville.
Wally, a James Logan graduate who finished second in 2014, placed fourth this time at 174 pounds, dropping the third-place match against Nico Chapman of Sacramento City 9-3. Ben Sira (197), an Arroyo graduate, defeated Zach Mitchell of Bakersfield 4-2 in the fifth-place match.
Lyle (133), a Liberty graduate, dropped the fifth-place match to Adrian Marrufo of West Hills 20-5 by technical fall.
Chabot had 35.5 points. Fresno City won its 14th team title overall with 158.5 points, just ahead of runner-up Cerritos (153.5).

MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Gladiators (2-8) fell to Hartnell 88-81 and Lassen 84-62 last week.
DeMarre Walker led Chabot with 20 points against Hartnell, Jabarri Harris had 19 and Dalvin Guy had a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Amu Aukusitino, off the football team, was credited with 20 assists.
