Chabot sports roundup, Dec. 19

WALKER SHINES IN DEFEAT
Despite receiving another sensational effort from DeMarre Walker, the Chabot men's basketball team (2-9) dropped a 77-71 decision against San Jose City on Friday.
Walker, who had 28 points in the loss, is ranked No. 2 in the state in scoring average with 24.1 points a game.
 After trailing by 14 points at halftime, the Gladiators outscored San Jose 36-28.
 Chabot will be off until beginning the Chabot Tournament against Bethesda JV on Dec. 28.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Gladiators (9-5) continued to play impressively with wins over Santa Barbara 97-74 and host West Hills 84-59 in the West Hills Tournament, before falling to Fresno City 70-55 in the championship game.
 De'Zire Hall had 22 points to pace Chabot against West Hills.
Naomi Mahe came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points against Santa Barbara, and four players had strikingly balanced scoring: Ariana Vargas (17 points), Tylore Bell (16), Aiyanna Gallegos (15) and Hall (15). Bell tacked on nine assists and five boards.
 Against Fresno, Gallegos paced the Gladiators with 20 points and Bell had 10 points and six assists.
 Chabot will next face Cosumnes River in the De Anza tournament on Dec. 28.
