FOOTBALL FALLS TO DELTA

Chabot struggled to find any rhythm on offense as the Gladiators suffered a 35-0 shutout loss against San Joaquin Delta Saturday night at Gladiator Stadium.

The Gladiators were held to just 204 yards of offense, and the Mustangs generated 357 total yards.

Freshman quarterback Vondell Pincher, starting in place of injured starter Johnny O'Brien, finished with 99 yards passing on 10 for 17 and was intercepted once.

DeAngelo Stubbs led Chabot runners with 15 carries for 59 yards.

The Gladiators (1-6, 0-2 National-Valley) marched downfield on the game’s first possession, reaching the Mustangs 24 where they faced a fourth-and-6, but Pincher's pass was tipped away and Chabot was turned away.

The Gladiators crossed midfield three more times but were turned away each time.

Chabot was also hurt by committing five turnovers, including three lost fumbles.

Malik Henderson led Chabot receivers with five catches for 71 yards. Samuele Cavallini had two-and-a-half tackles for loss as the Gladiators defense had 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

The Gladiators are back in action on Oct. 28 at home against Modesto Junior College.
