Chabot sports roundup, April 25 edition  

 

GLADIATORS RIDE NODDIN TO CLUTCH WIN
Levi Noddin pitched seven strong innings, Francisco Pedraza smacked three doubles and Hunter Harris homered as the Chabot baseball team upended visiting College of San Mateo 5-3 on Saturday.
The Gladiators (23-14, 12-6 Coast-Golden Gate), in rebounding from a 7-0 loss to CSM on April 22, won for the sixth time in their past seven games.
CSM (31-6, 16-2) has already clinched the conference title with a four-game cushion over second-place Chabot and two conference games left.
Noddin worked 7.1 innings, striking out 10, walking three, allowing three hits and two earned runs. Marcus Dubois earned the save, allowing two hits and an earned run.
The Gladiators also received stellar pitching in a 9-1 win over City College of San Francisco on April 18 in Fairmont. Augusto Pineda allowed just three hits over eight shutout innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Steven Nice was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and a double, and Pedraza had a home run and three RBI.

SOFTBALL
The Gladiators (14-13, 5-6 Coast-North) split a doubleheader against host and Coast-South power Hartnell last week, taking a 4-2 win and falling 10-7.
Chelsea Sligh had two RBI and Kathleen Perscheid and Amanda Coley both had two hits in the 4-2 win. Winning pitcher Alina Garcia scattered 10 hits and allowed two earned runs, walking two and striking out two. Coley and Perscheid each had two stolen bases.
In the 10-7 loss, Perscheid was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, Sligh had a double and an RBI and Desiree Gonzalez was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI.
Chabot will conclude conference play at home against CSM at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

GOLF
The Gladiators continued their excellent form with a first-place finish in a tournament at Coyote Creek with a fine 369 score. Zack McClure led the way with a 1-under 71 for medalist honors, and four other Gladiators broke 80. Heetae Yang shot 72, Anthony Gutierrez 73, Tyler McDaniel 74, Jacob Malone carded a 79. Scott Morris shot an 80.
With one tourney left before NorCals, the Gladiators have seized control of the Coast Conference with a 110 score, six better than second-place Modesto JC.

TRACK AND FIELD
Chabot is gearing up for the Coast Conference championships Wednesday and Saturday at Hartnell and Monterey Peninsula colleges.
