WEEKLY ATHLETICS RECAP

Chabot basketball roundup

IT'S SHOWDOWN TIME
The Chabot women's basketball team(17-6, 5-1) has done exactly what it set out to do: win every game after a disappointing loss to CCSF to set up perfectly a rematch against the first-place Rams (18-3, 5-0) in Hayward at 5 p.m. Friday.
Last week, Chabot extended its winning streak to five with victories over College of San Mateo (77-51) and Ohlone (56-41).
De’Zire Hall led the way against CSM with her usual double-double, with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Tylore Bell amassed eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals, scoring 15 points, and Ariana Vargas tacked on 13 points.
Against Ohlone, Chabot rallied from a 25-19 halftime deficit to outscore the Renegades by a whopping 37-16 over the final 20 minutes. Hall had a monster game with 21 points and 19 rebounds, and Bell added 14 points.
In the previous meeting with CCSF, Chabot led most of the way before falling 86-79 in San Francisco on Jan. 4. Hall had 31 points and 10 boards, and Bell had a triple-double with 16 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. The Rams' Destiny Kelly did most of the damage with 39 points and 14 rebounds.

Men's basketball
The Gladiators (4-16, 1-5 Coast-North) dropped two decisions last week, falling to Canada 83-70 and Ohlone 97-71. Things won’t get any easier this week. The Gladiators will host reigning state champion and Coast-North co-leader CCSF at 7 p.m. Friday.
Chabot’s Eliot Harris and Raj Dhanoa both had 15 points against Ohlone.
Against Canada, Jabarri Harris paced Chabot 23 points and eight rebounds, and Amu Aukusitino had 18 points and five steals.
