Tina Vasconcellos, Ph.D.

Dr. Tina Vasconcellos is a passionate educator who believes in the transformative impact community colleges have on students and their communities. She is a leader who is deeply committed to equity, inclusion, racial and social justice. As a Latina, her commitment to social justice is grounded in her Hispanic heritage where her families immigrated to America as migrant workers to create opportunities for future generations. Dr. Vasconcellos is a Chabot College success story and a first-generation college graduate who like many students initially lacked the cultural capital to successfully navigate higher education.

Dr. Vasconcellos earned a Ph.D. focused on community college leadership from a national perspective from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis in multicultural and holistic counseling from John F. Kennedy University.

Dr. Vasconcellos’ degrees, along with more than 25 years as a community college educator in multi-college districts, serve as her foundation. In her 16th year as an administrator, she currently serves as the associate vice chancellor of Educational Services and the Chief Instruction Officer, Chief Student Services Officer and Accreditation Liaison Officer for Peralta Community College District. Previous roles include Vice President of Student Services, Dean of Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Instruction.
