Fast Track to Stat: Chabot College Pilot Program—Fall 2018

What is the program?

The Fast Track to Stat program helps you complete your quantitative reasoning requirement for transfer to a university without having to spend a semester completing a non-transferable prerequisite such as MTH 53 or MTH 55. Instead, you will take a corequisite course, MTH 43W, that will fill in the prerequisite topics as they are needed while you take the transferable course MTH 43, Introduction to Probability and Statistics.

What’s required?

You must enroll in both MTH 43-001 and MTH 43W-001. Class hours are MW 8:00-10:15 a.m. and F 8:00-9:50 a.m.

Or you must enroll in both MTH 43-003 and MTH 43W-002.  Class hours are MW 10:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. and F 10:00-11:50 a.m.

The program meets 7 hours per week and carries 4.5 units of credit.  You will be expected to devote 15 hours or more per week to homework and studying outside of class.

Students sign a contract indicating that their schedule of work and study will leave them enough time to devote to the program.

Who qualifies for the program?

Students who placed into MTH 53 or 55 through the college assessment system

Students who placed into MTH 43 but feel they need some extra support

Students who have attempted MTH 43 or 53 or 55, but did not complete it successfully

Students who are eligible for MTH 55, but want to try MTH 43
