Fast Track to Stat: Chabot College Pilot Program—Fall 2017

What is the program?

The Fast Track to Stat program helps you complete your quantitative reasoning requirement for transfer to a university without having to spend a semester completing a non-transferable prerequisite such as MTH 53 or MTH 55. Instead, you will take a corequisite course, MTH 43W, that will fill in the prerequisite topics as they are needed while you take the transferable course MTH 43, Introduction to Probability and Statistics.

What’s required?

You must enroll in both MTH 43-006 and MTH 43W-001. Class hours are TuTh 1:15-3:30p and Fri 1:15-3:05pm.

The program meets 7 hours per week and carries 4.5 units of credit.  You will be expected to devote 15 hours or more per week to homework and studying outside of class.

Students sign a contract indicating that their schedule of work and study will leave them enough time to devote to the program.

Who qualifies for the program?

NEW or RETURNING students who placed into MTH 55 through the college assessment system

RETURNING students who have attempted MTH 55, but did not complete it successfully

RETURNING students who have successfully completed Math 65 and are eligible for Math 55

If space permits, applications from the following students will also be considered:

NEW students with strong high school academic records who have placed into MTH 65 or MTH 53 but believe they are ready for a college-level course.

RETURNING students who have attempted MTH 53, but did not complete it successfully.

How can I apply?

To apply for the program for Fall 2017, submit your application.

We will respond to your application within a week by email, so make sure that you include in your application an email address that you read frequently.
