Welcome to Chabot College! The Veterans Affairs
Administration is authorized by law to provide a wide range
of benefits to those who have served their country in the
Armed Forces and to their dependents. The Chabot College
Veterans Services Office is primarily responsible for
administration of veteran educational benefits programs. We
look forward in helping you in your academic success! |
Getting Started
Step 1:
Apply for
Admission
to Chabot College online.
NEW
Students apply with VA Form 22-1990
TRANSFER
Students apply with VA Form 22-1995
VETERAN DEPENDENTS
apply with VA Form 22-5490 (new student), VA Form 22-5495
(transfer student)
Please submit a copy of your
VONAPP application as proof for benefit eligibility to the
Chabot Veterans Services Office.
You may qualify for additional funding. Please note that VA
Educational Benefits may take up to 8 weeks for processing from
the time you submit your Enrollment Certification Request.
Step 4: Submit a copy of your DD-214 to establish
priority registration.
Per California SB 272 & SB 361, priority
registration is be provided to any member or former member of
the Armed Forces of the United States who has received an
honorable discharge, a general discharge, or an other than
honorable discharge.
Priority registration is not an automatic process. You must
request for priority registration at least one month prior to
the start of the registration period by submitting a copy of
your DD-214 to the Veterans Office at Chabot College, building
700 room 703D or fax to
(510) 723-7510, ATTN: Veterans Services Office.
Step 5: Complete Math and English
Assessment.
Complete this step if you have not
earned any college credits for Math and/or English courses. For
Assessment schedule, please visit the
Assessment Center website.
Step 6: Request ALL official sealed college and
military transcripts.
Mail or submit in-person an official
sealed transcript to:
Chabot College
Office of Admissions and Records

Military Transcripts Request Forms are available on the
following websites:
AART (Army
or National Guard)
SMARTS (Navy or Marines)
CCAF
(Air Force)
Coast Guard

Chabot College Policy & Federal regulations require Veterans
to submit official transcripts to Chabot College from ALL
schools attended.

All official transcripts must be on file with the Office of
Admissions and Records before a Transfer/Course evaluation
can be made.
Step 7: Choose a MAJOR.
- B.A./B.S. Transfer Majors
(CSU/UC/Private school), schedule an in-person appointment
with a Chabot Counselor to complete a
Veteran's Transfer Evaluation. Appointments are
limited. For Counseling Service hours, please visit their
website.
Step 8:
Register for classes online through
CLASS-Web.
- You may start registering for classes on
your assigned priority registration date online through
CLASS-Web.

Veterans are given a priority registration date to register.
It is your responsibility to follow your Chabot Transfer or
Course Evaluation Plan and know the important deadlines of
the college.

Please notify the VA School Certifying Official of any
change with your academic status.
Step 9: Certify courses.
- Complete the
Veteran's Enrollment Certification Request
form. This form is required every term you wish to
receive your VA education benefits.
- According to VA regulations, only courses
that satisfy requirements outlined by curriculum guide or
graduation evaluation form can be certified for VA purposes.
Students cannot be certified for courses that does not
fulfill a program requirement.

The following documents are required in order to certify
your courses: Certificate of Eligibility or VONAPP copy,
Transfer/Course Evaluation Plan., copy of DD-214
- For Chapter
30, 1606, 1607 verify enrollment monthly
by
Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) or call
1-877-823-2378 once a month for verification of attendance.
