Veronica MartinezVeronica Martinez, Communication Studies
Veronica Martinez received her MA in Speech Communication in 1997 from California State University, Hayward.
She taught at a variety of bay area campuses before coming to Chabot, teaching public speaking (for native or non-native speakers), interpersonal communication, voice improvement, interviewing, conflict management, business presentations, and small group communication.
 
In Fall 2008 Veronica was hired at Chabot College, where she currently teaches a variety of COMM classes, coordinates the Communication Studies Lab, co-coordinates the Service Learning Program, mentors Puente students, and co-coordinates the Indigenous Peoples Education Association.
 

 

Eileen PippinsEileen Pippins, Communication Studies


An Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area native, Eileen Pippins, M.A. is a Communications Studies and Advertising Professor.

She has been teaching at Chabot since 2014, and teaching at various colleges and universities in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area as well. Some courses include interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, business communication, conflict management, persuasion, group dynamics and public speaking. She is in the process of completing her doctorate in Organizational Development.

Wearing the vests of educator and Learning Organizational Development (LD/OD) Specialist, she has effectively facilitated difficult conversations in groups including education, housing and displacement, health advocacy, civic engagement, and equity in criminal justice. Some highlights of her work includes Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for Black/African Americans in higher education, a Foster Care counselor and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), strategic planning, conflict management, community engagement, and social justice. She has served as an advocate for formally incarcerated populations, military personnel, faith-based organizations, NGOs, and more. Her work also includes international explorations on communities in Ghana, Jamaica, Cuba and Brazil. Eileen brings a focused and exciting energy to the classroom and other learning environments.Her motto for working with people, whether in groups or individuals is centered in the belief that "you can't do the work and not be the work."

Fun facts: Eileen loves to travel and only has Antartica, Australia, and Oceanica left before she can say she’s visited every contentment. She is an author, avid line dancer, and hopes to become a vegan in the very near future.
