Fire Technology
Firefighting can be one of the most adventurous and rewarding professions in public service.
Chabot’s Fire Technology Program offers both certifications and degrees in Fire Technology and Fire Prevention Inspector. Chabot’s program is based on the Uniform Fire Technology curriculum, and is one of the longest running in the state of California. Successful completion of the program opens opportunities to work in Firefighting, Fire Investigating, Forestry Fire Fighting, Prevention Specialist, and many more.
Accreditation
Chabot College's Fire Academy and Certificate of Achievement are both state and nationally
accredited.

POTENTIAL CAREERS
First-Line Firefighting Roles
- Firefighters respond to fires, perform rescues, and provide emergency medical aid.
- First-Line Supervisors lead teams during emergency responses.
Fire Scene & Prevention Roles
- Fire Inspectors & Investigators check buildings for code compliance and investigate fire causes.
- Forest Fire Inspectors & Prevention Specialists help prevent wildfires and investigate causes, mainly working outdoors.
Work Environments
- Fire stations, emergency scenes, urban/wildland areas
- Offices for reports and inspections
- Shifts may include nights/weekends
