UC Berkeley Transfer Alliance Project (UCB TAP)

UC Berkeley Transfer Alliance Project (TAP)

UC Berkeley TAP is an academic advising and enrichment program serving more than 1,000 underserved students at 31 California community colleges. Participants receive support services designed to facilitate their transfer to the University of California and other baccalaureate-granting institutions.

Chabot College is a UCB TAP Community College!

Students interested in learning about and joining UCB TAP can begin by meeting with our UC Berkeley TAP Representative, Ms. Christina Tinsley, who makes visits to the Transfer Center and offers virtual appointment too.

Christina Tinsley - Transfer Alliance Project Assistant Director

UC Berkeley TAP provides the following support services:

  • Participants are informed of the steps to transfer to the University of California.
  • Provides opportunities to experience the UC Berkeley environment, including conducting research with UCB faculty and enrolling in UCB concurrent-enrollment or summer courses. Also includes STEM academic coaching, academic development workshops, and assistance with internship opportunities.
  • Provides opportunities to partner with UCB undergraduate mentors to learn about the Berkeley campus, culture, and resources.
  • Informs participants of the multiple undergraduate major pathways by which they can achieve their career and post-graduate goals.
  • Participants are invited to campus sporting events, guest lectures, free concerts, and overnight residential stays to familiarize them with the culture, diversity, and vitality of a major university campus.
  • Provides information and support with the application process, financial aid, and scholarships.

NIH Bridges to Baccalaureate Program

The goal of the NIH Bridges to Baccalaureate program is to increase the number of African American, Latino, Native American, and Pacific Islander community college students who transfer to 4 year universities in biomedical science majors. The program is an important part of the NIH effort to diversify the nation’s biomedical science professions.

The NIH Bridges program provides participants with academic advising, tutoring, career and professional development workshops, UC application and essay assistance, and an opportunity to participate in an 8-week, PAID summer research internship in a UC Berkeley lab.

Past UC Berkeley B2B participants have transferred to universities such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, and UC San Diego.
