How Does it Work

  1. Apply to Chabot College and submit FAFSA or CA Dream Act application.

  2. Complete and meet all Chabot College Promise Program requirements.

  3. If eligible, you’ll automatically be considered for:

    • The California College Promise Grant (CCPG) fee waiver;
    • OR, the Chabot College Promise (covers tuition if CCPG doesn't).

Important Notes

  • You must stay enrolled in 12+ units each semester (summer excluded).

  • Census Date – When will my balance change?

    • Your tuition balance won’t update right away.

    • The Chabot Promise is applied after the Census Date (for example, September 3).

    • Before we disburse (apply) the Chabot Promise, the Financial Aid Office will review and confirm your enrollment level to make sure each of your tuition/enrollment fees are covered (student fees are not included).

    • Until then, your account may still show a balance, this is normal.

    • After the Census Date, if you qualify, your tuition will be cleared by the Chabot Promise.

  • If you already paid, you can request a refund from Admissions & Records once the Chabot Promise is applied and your account shows a credit.
