Chabot sports roundup, Nov 20



Chabot (3-1) continued its impressive start to the season with an 84-55 rout of Cosumnes River on Nov. 14 in nonconference action. The Gladiators, under coach Mark Anger, also played very respectably in a 74-62 loss to powerful College of Sequoias (7-0).
Against Cosumnes River, Kim Masulit led the Gladiators with 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including 6-for-9 on 3s. Olivia Vezeladenos has 18 points and Sierra Hillman contributed 16 points.

Against Sequoias, the Gladiators showed they won’t back down against anyone. They were down by just four points with four minutes remaining. Mia Finnie paced Chabot with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds (10 defensive boards). Vezeladenos added 15 points.


Host Chabot took third place with 77 points at the Coast Conference Wrestling tournament with two individual champions: AJ Cress (174), and Lazaro Carrasco (197).
Other Chabot placers were Brandon Julien (3rd, 125); Pakon Saksrithai (3rd, 133); Rafael Vega (2nd, 165); Marc Chamberlain (3rd, 165); Kyle Thornton (3rd, 184); and Chumkuar Dhaliwal (2nd, 285).
Skyline was the team champion with 99 points, and Santa Rosa was second with 82 points.

The Gladiators, guided by coach Steve Siroy, are gearing up for the CCCAA State Championships Dec. 8-9 at San Joaquin Delta.



The Gladiators dropped three games in the Chabot Classic. In a 75-50 defeat to De Anza on Sunday, Joaquin Oropeza came off the bench to score 16 points.

In a tight 81-79 loss to Folsom Lake on Saturday, Stephen Northington paced Chabot with 20 points, converting 9 of 15 from the floor. Jorden Gilmete had 15 points and nine assists and Eliot Harris had 15 points, seven assists and five steals.
