My Bio

Dr. Luis Escobar has more than 18 years of experience in higher education in a wide range of positions including Classified Professional, Counseling faculty, Dean of Counseling and most recently as the Vice President of Student Services at Chabot College. His academic journey started as a community college first generation student. As a Latino male, raised in an immigrant family where he was the first to graduate from an institution of higher learning, his drive and commitment to advancing equitable student success outcomes stems from a deep personal connection to issues of educational equity. Dr. Escobar earned his Associate Degree from Contra Costa College, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Science in Counseling, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University.

My Bio

Dr. Tracey Coleman is an accomplished leader that began her career as a manager in fortune 500 companies. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management, Masters in Leadership and Management, and her Doctorate in Management of Organizational Leadership. Dr. Coleman’s journey in education consist of management consultant, educational consultant, adjunct faculty, tenured faculty, and currently dean. She has enjoyed the educational journey providing needed support to students and continues to mentor many of those whom she instructed in the classroom. The work in her consulting business has allowed her to continue on the path of teaching and development of others. Dr. Coleman is an advocate for students, their education and success, as well as the ability for them to become effective members of society. Dr. Coleman considers her work to reflect the leader within, a servant leader who utilizes her talents to effect change in others, by being the change.

My Bio

Paul Pinza is a San Jose native with a career spanning over 25 years in education. In the classroom, he taught high school ESL, literacy, public speaking, and launched an AP English Language course that successfully recruited underrepresented students. He also served on the Curriculum Framework Committee with the California Department of Education, helping to draft the state’s K-12 instructional framework for English and ESL. “I’ve seen first-hand how integrated tutoring operations and learning communities cultivate college-readiness among marginalized and underrepresented students. I’m thrilled to work at Chabot as we re-imagine what a truly accessible and just college looks and feels like.” Paul lives in Fairview (between Hayward and Castro Valley) with his wife Rhee and their dog Domino. Their son Donovan is an aspiring geologist currently studying at Sonoma State. He has acted and directed community theatre productions and plays soccer and disc golf when he can.
