CCN: Common Course Numbering
Same Courses, New Numbers!
The new Common Course Numbering (CCN) system is a statewide effort to make it easier for students to transfer between community colleges and four-year universities. It ensures that similar courses across California Community Colleges have the same course number.
Starting Fall 2025, six Chabot College courses will adopt the common course number.

Official Transcript
If your previously issued Chabot College official transcript displayed COMM 1, ENGL 1, ENGL 7A, POLS C1, PSYC C1, and/or STAT C43, instead of the common course number(s), in Fall 2025, then you should request that your transcript be reissued with the common course number(s) displayed.
To request your replacement transcript(s), contact cc-transcripts@chabotcollege.edu or visit the Admissions & Records Office.
If your transcript displays any of the courses listed in the paragraph above and you
have questions, email the Transfer Center at cc-transfer@chabotcollege.edu or contact Transfer Articulation.
DegreeWorks & Student Education Plan (SEP)
DegreeWorks will be upgraded this summer to display the new common course numbers. If COMM 1, ENGL 1, ENGL 7A, POLS C1, PSYC C1, and/or STAT C43 currently appear on your worksheet (degree/certificate audit) or plan (SEP) in DegreeWorks, then these courses will be automatically replaced with the common course numbers following the upgrade. No action is required by you.
For help navigating DegreeWorks, visit the DegreeWorks website.
If you have questions about your DegreeWorks worksheet or plan (SEP), contact Counseling.
